BRENDAN
BURNS
Brendon Burns has been a professional stand-up comedian for over
5 years. During that time he has worked in New York, L.A., San
Francisco, England, Scotland, Ireland, and all over his native
Australia. His raucous, free-formed, rock n' roll brand of comedy
has wowed audiences, promoters and comedians alike. Anyone who
has seen Brendon will agree that he brings an unprecedented vein
of unpredictable, original comedy to the stage. At only 26 years
of age he is an unlikely veteran of the artdue to his originality
and youthful 'vigour' Brendon is always a popular headline act
at Universities, Rock Festivals and Bar Mitzvahs!
In 1996 Brendon
debuted his first one man show at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival,
"6pm; Time To Get Up For Work", as well as compering
"The Comedy Zone" at the Pleasance. Brendon received
rave reviews which included;
'A young Aussie
firecracker... Burns delivers a relentless stream of manic, edgy
material. He effortlessly straddled various comic forms and maintains
slick cohesion. Burns is a true fringe find, a disturbing but
fascinatingly original talent. ".
Scotland on Sunday.
"He's
cocky, confident, bharisamtic... Burns has pretty much got everything
it takes. ".
The Scotsman.
"He possessed
a thrilling comic quality - a sense of suspense. ". The List.
"It's
the way someone tells them that matters... Brendon tells them
well. ". The Stage.
Summer 1997
saw Brendon making his acting debut, not to mention writing his
first play, which he performed with his fellow acting comedian
Ed Byrne. "The Act", is a comic play about two standups
living together at the Edinburgh festival.
"A more
mercurial odd couple you'd be hard pushed to find. ". Scotland
on Sunday.
"Loud
- mouth and mercurial, Burns' talent for intelligent situation
comedy shines as the two tease, antagonise and bicker about who
is the better comedian in this high-paced esoteric stand-up. ".
The Daily Express.
"Burns
is fascination as the raucous aussie agitator choosing between
success and integrity. ". The Times.
Brendon's
compering skills and the rapport he can establish with an audience
are unparallelled. His genuine enthusiasm regarding a crowd's
involvement in any show is fast gaining him the reputation as
the hardest working MC on the London circuit, simply because he
is an ordinary grungy kid, having way too much fun doing his job.
