ED BYRNE 1999 saw Ed Byrnes live shows go through the roof
with a massive 80 date tour which left promoters and venue managers
stunned by the response. They 'have never seen anything like this
before' The Edinburgh Festival also announced for the second year
running that Ed Byrne was their biggest selling show! The Year
2000 is already set to take him higher....... He has recently
completed a highly successful run at The Playhouse for this year's
Edinburgh Festival culminating in over 2500 sales on the last
night! Ed is now on a UK tour finishing up with 2 nights at the
Olympia, Dublin. Tickets are selling faster than last year's tour!
Over the past 2 years Ed has developed phenomenal success on the
International Circuit where he has performed to capacity audiences
in Montreal (Just For Laughs), Dublin, Paris, Singapore, Sydney,
Melbourne and New Zealand. In both Melbourne and New Zealand Ed
was the largest selling act at the festivals. Ed's draw is such
that in New Zealand only 2 other international comedians can top
his sales, being MIchael Barrymore and Billy Connolly! In addition
to his stand up work Ed has hosted the GLR Children In Need show
at the Sheperds Bush Empire, showcased at the Melrose Improv in
Los Angeles, presented a music show for Channel Four, (Vinyl Tap),
presented the behind the scenes coverage at the MTV Music Awards,
acted in a play reading (drama) at The Tricycle Theatre. With
his stand up he has made dazzling appearances on the BBC's Stand
Up Show (extended set), Late Night With Conan O'Brien (NBC, his
5th appearance in 17 months), Channel Five's The Comedy Store,
UK Gold's Live At Jongleurs, The Royal Variety Performance (BBC),
Live At The Palladium (ITV) and Des O'Connor Tonight (twice, ITV).

UK) produced by Alison Owen (Ruby Films) where he plays the role
of Rudolph. Radio includes a comedy play, The Pig's Back (BBC
Radio 4) and the Griff Rhys Jones sketch show (radio pilot). Ed
has just finished filming the ITV/LWT Christmas Panto, Aladdin
where he plays the lead role. This year March and April was spent
performing in N. America playing gigs in Canada (Just For Laughs
Tour) LA, Las Vegas and San Francisco.During this time Ed also
performed on Late Night With Conan O'Brien (NBC). On his return
appeared as Team Captain in the comedy debating show, Head On
Comedy (BBC1) hosted the RTE New Comedy Awards in Dublin, performed
on the BBC Edinburgh Nights Comedy Special and recently has been

of the feature film RAT. Ed is currently developing his own sitcom
vehicle with Carlton Television. "He'll make you smile, he'll
make you laugh, he'll make you want to fall in love with him"
THE STAGE. Ed Byrne PRESS QUOTES "Comic gold....Lovable....You
just stand up and cheer with everybody else" Independent "Catch
him before he's swallowed up by global fame" The Guardian "Tickets
for his shows are like gold dust....Truly a master of the art
of comedy" The LIst. "Charming his way to the top" Express "You'll
laugh so much that laughing will become more normal than breathing"
The Stage "Jokes come so fast that hecklers don't have a chance
to get a word in edgeways" The Times. "Hottest tip this year is
Ed Byrne....Fluent, assured and wicked" The Sunday Times "It is
rare for comedy to merit the word "masterful" but in this case
it's no overstatement" The Scotsman "His set had the audience
in stitches for most of the evening - they roared their approval
at the end - but he is technically excellent as well, the sure
sign of a comic on the cusp of a major league career. 1998 is
proving a good year for comedy on the Fringe and it does not come
better than this" The Stage "Utterly charming" The List "Astoundingly
polished material" The Sunday Telegraph "He'll make you smile,
he'll make you laugh, he'll make you want to fall in love with
him" The Stage "This charming man may well be threatening to give
stand-up a good name" The List "Byrne looks destined to be a comic
who will inspire as many swoons as guffaws" The Scotsman "A comedian
with everything going for him, Ed Byrne has all the attributes
to upgrade to the big time....See him" The Independent "He describes
himself as a stick insect rather than sex symbol but the high
proportion of women hanging onto his every witticism suggests
otherwise. He may be thin and weedy but his material certainly
in not" Daily Express "In complete rapport with his capacity audience"
Scotsman "A stunningly original piece of work....a real comedy
star" Irish Times 'The audience went into raptures and insisted
on an encore" Time Out "His wit won deafening cheers and feet
stomping" The Guardian "Dazzling" Sunday Times
