Originally hailing from Newcastle Upon Tyne, John became a performer at Tyneside's C Comedy Cafe and in his first year was deemed skilful enough to appear with the likes of Lee Evans, Jack Dee & Jo Brand. On moving south, John Fothergill was immediately recognised as an untapped talent and before long was a regular headliner in the most prestigious comedy venues including London's famous "Comedy Store".
