SHAPPI KHORSANDI A
finalist in the BBC New Comedy Awards 2000 and second place winner
of Hackney Empire New Act of the Year 2000, Shappi Khorsandi has
made a splash on the UK comedy scene. Shappi has established herself
on the London Comedy circuit and appears regularly at clubs such
as Downstairs at the Kings Head, The Monday Club, The Cosmic,
The Comedy Cafe, The Aztec an Screaming Blue Murder. She has performed
at venues big and small around the UK for Avalon, Real talent
and London Management. Shappi spent the summer of 1999 in Los
Angeles, where she and her brother Peyvand enjoyed a sell-out
week run of the ‘How To Be Iranian’ stand-up/sketch show. They
also performed at a few bar Mitzvah’s, weddings and Jewish singles
nights! Last April they performed six sell-out shows at Etcetera
Theatre and the Camden People’s Theatre. On 17 June How To Be
An Iranian was performed at the Bloomsbury Theatre. Competitions
